A bride who recently qualified as a nurse has been hailed an “angel” after she helped a car crash victim while still wearing her wedding dress.

The American newlywed, Rachel Taylor, 22, was on the way home with her new husband following the ceremony when they saw a three vehicle pile-up.

The couple from Minnesota, who met in 2012, were still in their wedding clothes but did not hesitate to stop and offer help.

In a dramatic photo Miss Taylor was seen kneeling down and comforting the victim, Tamera Peterson, following the crash on Sunday.

Ms Peterson had arrived at the scene following a call from her son, who had been involved in a minor crash.

She was standing between the two stricken vehicles when a black Chevy Tahoe came through the intersection and smashed into them.

Mrs Taylor told local newspaper Mercury News: “I saw a couple of people dragging a woman over to the side of the road.

“I could see a gash in her right leg. I think I saw her bone in it.”

Her husband, Calvin Taylor, 23, took to Facebook to praise his “rock star” bride for rushing to the scene and said that the incident had left him in no doubt that he had married the right woman.

When the paramedics arrived, Mrs Taylor, who had been comforting the victim for 15 minuets explained what they were doing to her, translating their medical shorthand and reassuring her that she would be fine.

“I just went into nurse mode,” she told Mercury News. “It seemed pretty natural. I was pretty surprised. I’ve always been lacking in confidence about my nursing abilities so it was nice to see that in a situation like that, I knew what to do.”
